Shop / trap a pest pantry moth traps
PT 4 Allure is designed to attract and trap stored product insects through the controlled release of pheromones. Pheromones are chemical substances that enable members of the same species to communicate, such as when to mate, aggregate, or avoid danger. The Allure traps streamline and simplify the inspection process, while also serving as excellent evaluation tools to assess the effectiveness of insecticide applications.
These traps can be placed throughout food processing plants, warehouses, and other facilities where stored product insect infestations are suspected. They can also be used in residential kitchens and pantries to detect and trap these pests. The traps are effective in attracting a range of stored product pests, including Almond moths, Mediterranean Flour moths, Raisin moths, and Tobacco moths.
To assemble the Moth Trap, grasp the top and bottom of the trap and pull them apart. Then, fold the perforated ends inward to create a three-dimensional shape. Peel off the paper covering the adhesive on the back of the pheromone packet, taking care not to touch the packet's membrane surface with your fingers. Place the pheromone packet inside the top of the trap.
The pheromone (sex) lure in the PT 4 Allure trap attracts male moths, and the trapped males then attract female moths. To prolong the storage life of unused pheromone packets, refrigerate or freeze them. Use tweezers or rubber gloves to handle the packets to avoid contamination, especially if traps for multiple insect species are being prepared. Do not damage the packet's membrane by stapling, pinning, or nailing it to the trap, and do not peel the membrane apart.
To find infestations within a facility, move the traps from uninfested areas to the areas where moths have been captured, increasing the trap density to as much as one trap per 9,000 cubic feet. Careful inspection in the area with the maximum trap catch should reveal the source of the infestation.
For mass trapping, use a trap density of one or more traps per 3,000 cubic feet, depending on the size of the moth population. Inspect the traps weekly and remove any insects and debris. Replace the trap if the stickiness is reduced due to insects, dust, or debris.
